Tara Meacham has been following the LBIregion, the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce's facebook profile for several months. It was not until the chamber posted a reminder about the contest on its facebook page that Tara leaned about this wedding opportunity. Tara and her fiancé Rick Clapper, who live in Lumberton, NJ, were chosen from 100 entries submitted to NJWedding.com, and are planning on making the most of one of a kind wedding day.

Tie the Knot on a Tall Ship, has been sponsored by NJWedding.com and the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness of the area as a wedding destination, but also to promote the AJ Meerwald's visit to Beach Haven on July 25-27.

Several local organizations including ReClam The Bay, Museum of NJ Maritime History, and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences have been working with the crew of the AJ Meerwald to bring the schooner into the LBI region. NJWedding.com and the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce announced the winners along with a representative of the environmental groups at the Jersey Shore Store located at 813 Broadway in Manhattan.

"It is the year of the Tall Ship," states Rick Bushnell of Reclam the Bay, "AJ Meerwald is the official Tall Ship of New Jersey, what better way to promote coastal heritage and protection." There are many events planned region wide to make the most of the ship's visit. The most prominent event will be the wedding, taking place the evening of July 25 and will be officiated by Deborah C Whitcraft, Mayor Emeritus of Beach Haven.
