Beach Information Provided by Each Town as of May 2020

Barnegat Light

Social distancing as required during COVID-19 by Governor Murphy

Beach badges: Required for all beach patrons 12yrs old and over from mid June thru Labor Day. Badges can be purchased at Beach Badge booth or on the beach from a beach badge checker, all badges are $1.00 additional if purchased from beach badge checker on the beach.

Lifeguards: On duty seven days a week from mid June through Labor Day from 10am to 5 pm. For your safety always swim in designated areas which are marked with flags.
For families with young children, visit our guarded Bay Beach at 25th St. and Bayview.

Beach Wheels: Offered on a first-come first-served basis and reservations are required.
Beach Tram: For beach patrons between 4th St. & 9th St. picks up beach goers on each street end, on the beach and takes them to the lifeguarded area between 9th St. & 10th St., current beach badge is required. It operates between 10am to 1pm & 2pm to 5 pm.

Guarded beaches: Approximately, according to beach conditions.
Between 8th & 9th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 25th & 25th Bay beach, 26th, 27th, 30th. Streets

Beach Haven

Beach badges: Only needed for those between the ages of 13 to 64 and are only good within the borough of Beach Haven (from 12th St. to Nelson Av.) from June through Labor Day. Badges can be purchased at Beach Badge office on Centre St. at entrance to the beach or with Beach Badge checkers. Those 65 and older may receive a free, lifetime Senior Badge, at the Centre St. badge office with ID.Veterans may receive free, Seasonal Badges at the Centre St. badge office, with proper ID. Active duty military and their immediate family members may receive free, weekly wrist bands at the Centre St. badge office, with ID.

Long Beach Township

Beach Badges: Required from 10 am to 5pm for ages 12 to 64, Senior Citizens (65+) and Military Veteran Badges are available with ID. Badges can be purchased at the 68th St. office in Brant Beach or with Beach Badge checkers.

Beach Wheels (Surf Chair): Available for anyone staying at Long Beach Township address. However, for people staying at hotels special security arrangements have to be be made in advance. To reserve a SurfChair call 609.361.1200. Long Beach Township has a program called the “Gator” service to assist physically challenged individuals from the street-side beach entrance,
bringing them over the dunes to the beach. To schedule a pick- up please contact the Transportation Department at 609.342.2111.

Beach Badges: Required on all beaches beginning in June for anyone 12 years of age or older. All badges may be purchased at the beach badge booth in Sunset Park starting in June. Daily and weekly badges may be purchased from the Beach Badge Checker on the beach. Only cash or checks are accepted.

Active Military -free daily beach admissions shall be provided to active members of the United States Armed Services and their dependents upon the presentation of a valid military status identification card to any Beach Badge checker or borough personnel. Veterans- free daily beach admissions shall be provided to any person who has served in any of the Armed Forces of the United States and upon presentation of acceptable proof of honorable discharge to any badge checker or borough personnel.

Beach Wheels: Available on a weekly basis by reservation to anyone staying at a Harvey Cedars address. Beach badges are required. Handicap access ramps to ocean beaches east 80th St., also East Mercer Av. Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) is an alternate program for physically challenged individuals who are unable to use a beach wheel chair. Anyone staying at a Harvey Cedars address is eligible to reserve transportation at no charge. Beach badges are required.

Guarded beaches: 86th, 83rd, 80th, 77th, 73rd, 69th Streets, Middlesex Av, Atlantic Av, Hudson Av, Cape May Av, 5417 Blvd. easement(aka Cumberland), Bergen Av South, & Bay Beach at West 75th Street.

Ship Bottom

Beach Wheels: For handicapped access to the beach are available for patrons of Ship Bottom beaches that are staying at a Ship Bottom address. Please call to reserve in advance 609.494.2171 or 609. 494.9481. Beach Badges are required.

4th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 25th Streets.

Social distancing required during COVID-19 by Governor Murphy

Beach badges: Required to be worn by anyone ages 12 to 64 while on the beach in bathing suit. Children under the age of 11 and seniors over the age of 65 are not required to wear a beach badge. For the 2020 Season, Active Duty Military & their immediate families may access the Beach at no cost with a wrist band obtained from a badge checker.
