Artists For a Shore Cause is a grass roots artists movement created to help Jersey Shore communities affected by Super storm Sandy.  Proceeds from donated art work will be split between two local charities, Jetty + Waves 4 Water and Waves of Hope.

Informal Weekly Rehearsal ~ Oceanaires Barbershop Chorus...  This Ocean County based award-winning men's accappella chorus welcomes men of good character who can stay on pitch and like to sing.  Members are not required to read music, and need not have prior chorus experience.  All music is learned using pre-recorded instructions! Island Singers Community Chorus Rehearsals

Island Singers Community Chorus~ The southern Ocean County Community Chorus has been performing in local venues from Lakewood to Tuckerton since 1972.  The non-profit, volunteer group has developed and matured into a quality community chorus whose concerts are FREE and held in local libraries, museums, restaurants, nursing homes and other venues.  Rehearsals are held every Tuesday night September - June.  Anyone with a pleasant voice and a desire to learn the music is welcome to join.  No auditions are necessary.  Chorus members come from the entire southern Ocean County area.

Ocean Bay Needle Arts~ Members meet to learn about different types of needlework.  Several projects are planned each year that members may choose to work on.  All are welcome, from beginner stitcher to the experienced stitcher.  Instructions will be given for all projects.  Guests may bring their own needlework projects to work on.  Bring something for lunch. Dessert and beverage is provided.

NJDOT Rt. 72 Bay Bridge Project Public Information Center

 The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is committed to developing transportation improvements that best balance transportation needs, the environment, community concerns and cost, and will hold a Public Information Center to inform local residents and businesses of the staging and improvements in connection with the RT. 72 Manahawkin Bridge Project in Stafford Township and Borough of Ship Bottom, Ocean County.  You are encouraged to actively participate by providing comments at the meeting, by mail or by e-mail.

The meeting will be held from 4 - 7 pm; please plan to attend at a time that is convenient for you.  The meeting will provide an open house opportunity to view information on the design plans and construction staging.  NJDOT staff will be on hand to answer any questions.  A comment form will be available to obtain written comments from the local communities and general public.  Property owners of rental units are advised that tenants are invited and encouraged to participate.

Memorial Day Feild of Flags

Southern Regional High School will once again pay tribute to the military men and women who have given their lives in service to our country.  One 12' x 18' American flag will be placed on the field in front of the 9/10 building for every service person who has died in Iraq and Afghanistan while serving our country.  As of Feb 15 the number is 6445.

Flags will be placed on Thursday, May 23.  Every Middle School and High School student and staff member will be involved. 

On Friday, May 24 there will be a Memorial Day Service at 10:30 AM.  The flags will remain in place through the holiday and will be taken down on Tuesday.

It is our hope that the community as well as the student body will begin the holiday weekend fully realizing the purpose behind the holiday.

Regal Manahawkin 10 on Route 72 in Manahawkin will be having a Fast & Furious Car Wash on May 25th from 11am-3pm. All proceeds to go to Regal’s Charity Stars Of Hope. Stars Of Hope was founded by Regal in 2003 and includes charities, Make-A-Wish, Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Feeding America, Boy’s and Girl’s Club, American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots among others. Staff and friends have donated their time for this event. Donation is only $5.00 per vehicle. So come out and get your car washed and check out Fast & Furious 6 while helping out a great cause!!

Coast Guardsmen and Auxiliarists will be at both locations to answer questions, offer recommendations and provide information of interest to Barnegat Bay boaters.

Get a free courtesy vessel safety check to ensure your boat conforms to Federal and State boating safety requirements.  Upon passing a check, a decal is issued to proudly display on your vessel.  This does not exempt you from law enforcement boarding, but does signify that you are a safety conscious boater to law enforcement personnel.

Long Beach Township - All lifeguards from the community as well as friends, family, and visitors are invited to a special ecumenical blessing at the St. Francis Aquatic Center located at 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, NJ on Saturday, May 25th from 4:45 till 5:00pm just before the regularly scheduled lifeguard tests and trials. Please join us as we ask God to watch over the lifeguards who so diligently serve all who use our beaches and pools.

New Jersey's Favorite Uncle - Uncle Floyd - brings his vaudvillian style singing and comedy to Sea Oaks for a night of pure clean fun.  Uncle Floyd began his career in show business as a child, dancing at the 1964 World's Fair in New York and at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City.  In high school - on stage he found the sound of laughter more fulfilling than applause. After high school he went right to work in  show biz, finding employment in circus, nightclubs, amusement parks,  and as a comedian in the few remaining burlesque shows. His varied experiences in the performing arts finally led him to television where he began his own show titled "The Uncle Floyd Show" in New Jersey on January 29, 1974. The show developed a following in the New York-New Jersey area in the 1970's.

David Bowie, a big fan of the show, recorded the song "Slip Away" on his 2002 album, Heathen, as a tribute. The lyrics mention Uncle Floyd  and his puppets "Oogie" and "Bones Boy". When asked how Bowie learned of The Uncle Floyd Show he replied, "John Lennon told me about it".  He has appeared in NBC's "Law & Order," "Good Morning Vietnam," "Crazy People," "Mr. Wonderful," "A Pyromaniac's Love Story," and "The Clowns Of Babylon," and was a main personality on Sirius Radio's "Wiseguys Show", and currently has his own web based radio show titled "Garage Sale Music".
