July 19 - Walk the Wild Side- Trish Schuster unfolds the surprising diversity of wildlife of the Jersey Shore using taxidermic wildlife, replica skulls, feet and other artifacts to discover how they adapted to shore life.
July 26 - 1050's Summers on LBI- Returning after last year's great response to the 1940's, the Flaglers recall the times and adventures of life on LBI of the Eisenhower Era.
August 2 - The Fortuna- Carol Bradshaw, Author of new book on Fortuna talks of the sinking of the large ship off of LBI.
August 9 - Shark Attack of 1916 - Summer 1916, war was looming the horizon, city epidemics had driven people to the shore in great numbers, either one very hungry shark! Learn more about life (and Sharks!) then and now.  Trish Schuster.

STAINED GLASS - Create your very own 12” x 12” stained glass window in this one day course (10-4). You should arrive at class with a simple concept or idea of what you would like to make. You will work with glass artist Mary Tantillo and her team to create a one-of-a-kind work of art. You will learn the basics of how to make a simple stained glass window to take home with you at the end of the day. Island Singers Community Chorus Rehearsals

Island Singers Community Chorus~ The southern Ocean County Community Chorus has been performing in local venues from Lakewood to Tuckerton since 1972.  The non-profit, volunteer group has developed and matured into a quality community chorus whose concerts are FREE and held in local libraries, museums, restaurants and other venues like The Surflight Theater and the Stafford Center for the Performing Arts.  The chorus also makes several annual, pro-bono appearances.  Rehearsals are held every Tuesday night beginning in January. Anyone with a pleasant voice and a desire to learn the music is welcome to join.  No auditions are necessary.  The name Island Singers was chosen because the group rehearses on Long Beach Island.  However, chorus members come from the entire southern Ocean County area.

The event is named the "Classic" because only vintage longboards will be allowed and the contestants will be scored by classic contest criteria such as noserides, hanging ten, cheater fives, dropknee turns, fin first takeoffs, spinners, lenght of ride and cross-stepping style.  Surf Instrumental band The Diamondheads will be preforming live during the contest.  ALO's Environmental Fair will be a festival of local enviromental organizations and "green-minded" companies such as The Surfrider Foundation, Clean Ocean Action, Save Barnegat Bay, and Reclam The Bay.  Entry fee for the contest is $35 for pre-registration and $40 at the day of the event.  All proceeds to benefit the Alliance for a Living Ocean.
