LBI Surf Fishing Tournament
Since 1955 the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, with generous support from our business community, has sponsored the Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament.
More than 900 anglers register each year. During the six-week fall tournament, anglers weigh in striped bass and bluefish to compete for thousands of dollars of tournament-sponsored daily, weekly, segment, and grand prizes. In addition, there are prizes and awards presented by businesses, fishing clubs, and Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament participants and supporters.
A highlight of the tournament is the annual free "Super Surf Casting Seminar," traditionally held on opening day of the tournament. We meet at the Chamber of Commerce on 9th Street in Ship Bottom for coffee and bagels, then gather on the beach at 9th Street in Ship Bottom where the members of the Surf City Anglers, a local fishing club, generously share their knowledge about surf fishing equipment, surf casting, bait, 4-wheel drive vehicles on the beach, and much more.
Information about dates, registration, prizes, fees, and more can be found at the LBI Surf Fishing Tournament website.
