Tips For Finding That Perfect Summer Rental

Ship Bottom, NJ, March 3, 2008 – There’s no time to waste if you’re planning to vacation with your family and friends at the southern New Jersey seashore this summer. The premium properties go fast, and of course there are lots of people wanting to vacation at the height of the summer season.

Rick Reynolds, of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, offered several tips for conducting the most successful search for a summer vacation rental.

1) Set search criteria as specific as possible, including desired dates (the most common rental is one week,) number of people in your party, number of bedrooms, location, for example waterfront or a few blocks walk to the beach, and preferences, such as a duplex or single family home, modern or older.

2) Do your homework on the internet. All good real estate agencies will have fairly sophisticated web sites showing details of their listings, including photos of interiors, exteriors and maps of listing locations.

3) Select a reputable agency, which could have 1,000 or more listings to choose from. Once you have your realtor and are narrowing your choices, ask the agent for guidance, including his or her opinion of the home, as that even the best photos can be misleading, and specifically, if he or she has seen the property firsthand.

4) If you have the time, schedule an appointment with the agency to go look at your final selection in advance.

5) Once you have rented, if any problems occur be sure to report them to the agency. You want to avod any security deposit issues.

6) Remember, it’s never too early to begin. Some people even search this year for a rental next year.

7) You are coming on vacation, so leave your cares behind and prepare to immerse yourself into leisure recreation at the southern New Jersey seashore.
